Please help us welcome Ms. Julia Roach to the Norwich Middle School family!! She will be teaching 8th grade English. Read on to learn more about Ms. Roach:
"My name is Julia Roach; I am a happily relocated Californian and a teacher for the last 8 years. I have previously taught English, History, and Art to middle and high schoolers as well as young adults. I’m from a warm and loving family with 3 siblings and our father, all back in California, who I miss very much, and wish would move to New York! I very much look forward to teaching 8th grade English at Norwich Middle School. I graduated from UCSD with a bachelor’s in Literatures of the World and National University for my graduate degree in education and teaching credential. I am a believer in whole child education which focuses on the “whole child” and their talents, growth areas, and interests. I bring this philosophy to my teaching no matter what the subject is. I have many hobbies including: crafting and art of all types, gardening, linguistics, writing poetry, community service, hunting and bushcraft, and hanging out with my wild son Layth. I can’t wait to be a part of the fabulous, welcoming community or Norwich."

Please join us in welcoming the new technology teacher to the High School.
“My name is Mark Moutarde and I am excited to be joining Norwich High School as the Technology Teacher. I grew up in London, England and am a graduate of King’s College London and the University of Wales. My first career was as an Army Officer (retired as a Major in 2008). During this time, I completed several teaching appointments, including at the Army Foundation College (for Junior Soldiers) and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (UK equivalent of USMA West Point). I also deployed on combat operations to Iraq in 2003. As a civilian, I have taught and run technology businesses in several locations, including the Middle East, Europe and the US, where I have been privileged to work on exciting projects using cutting-edge immersive technologies. I moved to Norwich with my family in 2021, having been a regular visitor here for nearly 20-years! Outside of school I enjoy hiking, skiing, drone flying and the many other delights that Upstate New York has to offer! I am also an avid Rugby fan and never miss the opportunity to watch a game or three!”
We would like to welcome Jamie Foote back to the High School, below is a bio from her.
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be returning to the high school, it feels like I’m returning home 💜This time around, I will be serving as the At-Risk Coordinator!
I moved to Norwich as a senior in college and have lived in the area for the past 9 years. My first job after graduation from Hartwick College was working with the Liberty Partnerships Program. I loved it SO much that I spent the next 7 years growing in that role.
Outside of school I love to spend time with my friends, family, my husband and our 2 sweet labradoodles. I love traveling and experiencing the world, as well as expressing myself through home interior design!
See you soon, NHS!

10 Things I Wish I Knew Going Into Middle School
1. Teachers are people too.
2. Each part of you needs a friend.
3. Talk to people, not about them.
4. Focus less on what you want to happen and more on who you want to be.
5. Play.
6. It takes two healthy people for a healthy relationship.
7. Avoid the hair straightener.
9. Cut EVERYONE some slack
10. Friendships come in ALL shapes and sizes
Go Purple!
