The Transportation Center starts its day at 5:30 a.m., though operations can begin as early as 3:30 a.m. in inclement weather. They manage 16 daily routes, covering approximately 1600 miles and transporting over 900 students.
In addition to regular routes, the center provides transportation for athletic events, field trips, and other extracurricular activities, with student safety as their top priority. The team comprises 3 office staff, 2 mechanics, 19 drivers, and 6 aides.
New bus drivers are required to pass a criminal-history check and a health physical. They must also hold a valid Class B driver's license with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, and complete pre-service training along with 30 hours of additional classes within their first year of driving.
