Pete the Cat sang and danced on stage, then joined us for a final farewell at dismissal!
6th grade science students worked to create “mini habitats” for their Diversity of Life unit. They added soil, leaves, sticks, moss and water together and will be leaving their habitats closed for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks we will open them back up and see if we have any more living things inside! They will take a sample of our water and look at it under the microscope to see if we can find any organisms. The students are excited to have a hands on experience to apply what they are learning in the classroom!!

*Districtwide Half Days for Parent Teacher Conferences (Stanford Gibson, Perry Browne, and Norwich Middle School ONLY): Friday, April 14th, and Monday, April 17th, 2023.
Early Dismissal Times for Students:
*Stanford Gibson: 10:30 a.m.
*Perry Browne: 11:20 a.m.
*Norwich Middle School: 11:27 a.m.

Gibson students will be traveling to the high school for Pete the Cat tomorrow, 3/28 at 11:30. We will be back in time for dismissal, so no changes necessary. Get ready for a "groovy" performance!

Norwich City Schools is pleased to announce that for the 2022-2023 school year, the district will continue to provide school meals (breakfast and lunch) to ALL students at no cost. This is made possible through the Federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). We do ask all families to complete the Eligibility Form linked below which is an essential tool that helps us to ensure the district continues to receive its fair share of state aid revenue.

Emergency Day Announcement:
Good evening,
NCSD began this year, like each year, with 6 emergency days to be used in case of inclement weather or any emergency requiring us to close school. Per NYS regs, we must maintain 180 school days, and yet, the school calendar is built with 186 days, total.
Each year, if we do not use all of our 6 emergency days, they become, give back days. We have 3 unused emergency days in the till, currently, which means, pending no need for emergency school closings, we have to schedule those 3 days as days with no student attendance.
Consequently, Monday April 10th, will be a day of no student attendance. I am planning on appropriating the other two around Memorial Day weekend but stay tuned with fingers crossed that Ol’ Man Winter is behind us. I will let you know as soon as we gain greater confidence that Spring is really here.

The Norwich City School District is seeking a Director of Business and Administrative Services to start 06/01/2023. Candidates should have a strong record of accomplishments and possess 1-2 years of demonstrated leadership experience. On Wednesday, NMS hosted Tom Coverly, Illusionist and Magician, who came to the school to do a presentation on kindness and respect. Our students had a good time learning from Tom at this event. We are so happy Tom came to our school to share his inspirational story with our kids.
