Good Morning,
Today is Monday November 13, 2023. Today is a Purple Day.
Have a great week!
Perry Browne is focused on extending gratitude in November as part of their Purposeful People curriculum, and one way they are demonstrating that is to extend gratitude to our veterans, with a parade. Thank you veterans!

The Perry Browne Courtyard Clean-up Crew worked hard to tidy up our beloved outdoor learning space. Despite the chilly temperatures, volunteers of all ages worked as a team to begin our courtyard transformation project. Thank you to all who helped get this project underway!
Please join NCSD in congratulating two of our educators who were selected for the NYS Master Teacher and Master Counseling program. Mrs. Jaclyn Lund, a Kindergarten teacher at Stanford Gibson, and Mrs. Elaina van der Sommen, a counselor at Norwich Middle School, join the ranks of 1,400 other educators in the program. The New York State Master Teacher Program is a vibrant professional network of K-12 STEM teachers throughout the state who share a passion for their own STEM learning and for collaborating with colleagues to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. In January 2022, the program was expanded to create a cohort of counselors and to encourage more teachers with CTE certificates related to STEM careers that are projected to be in high demand to apply. NYS Master Teachers and Counselors have a voice in their professional development - they co-create, co-facilitate, co-design, and choose the learning they will engage in. We are so proud of you, Jaclyn and Elaina, as you join several other 'masters' in our District!
Last Tuesday Ms. Cummings' class went to do a math rounding activity in Makerspace with Mrs. Chapman. Students used the robot Dash and a number line to round numbers to the nearest thousand, ten thousand, and hundred thousand.
During the week of October 16th, Mrs. Ryan's, Ms. Cummings,' and Mrs. Chapman's classes went to Makerspace for the first time. Mrs. McLachlan helped us learn how to properly use this space.
Kindergarten loved the Purposefull Parade! They were so excited to wear their costumes!
Second grade students compared clay structures and sand structures in science class. They discovered the clay structures were much stronger.

NOTICE: NATIONWIDE MILK CARTON SHORTAGE
Dear Norwich School Community:
The Norwich CSD has received notice of a potential impact on our milk supply due to a nationwide milk carton shortage. Our milk suppliers and others across the nation are experiencing a shortage of the half-pint cartons that are typically used for our school meals. The shortage is expected to last for several months.
Our suppliers are seeking alternative solutions to the packaging issue, but in the meantime, once our current supply of milk in cartons is gone, we will serve milk from larger containers into individual cups. If something should change, we will notify you.
To be clear, this is not a milk shortage, and there is no issue with the milk supply itself, but rather a cardboard shortage only. If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Food Services Department at 607-334-1600 ext. 5410.
8th grade students visited the Veterans Memorials in Norwich today. Students connected their learning in the classroom to the local community. Additionally, our students wrote thank you letters to veterans at the Oxford Veterans Home.
We are grateful for those who have provided us the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you for your service. Happy Veterans Day!!
Kindergarten enjoyed our PurposeFALL People parade. We loved our costumes!
Kindergarten always finds creative ways to practice writing our sight words!
Because the character trait of the month is gratitude, we highlighted some scientists we are grateful for in the Gibson hallway. Scientists show gratitude by appreciating the work of others!
Mrs. Lund's Class had their first visit at Gibson's MakerSpace last week!
