Educators at the Norwich City School District are excited to publish the stories of our courses through our curricular storyboards. Each storyboard is a 30,000-foot view of our courses, told in story or narrative format.
These storyboards, meant for caregivers and our community, stem from each team’s work carefully examining and unpacking their standards and understanding student learning outcomes. They result in a story sequence of what students will learn throughout their experience in each course.
Check them out by visiting our site here: https://www.norwichcsd.org/page/storyboarding-ncsd

Game Day Wednesday, March 5, 2025

Third grade STEM students learning more about coding and how to use BBC micro:bits and code their own programs. (The BBC micro:bit is a pocket sized computer that introduces how software and hardware work together) We are still in the beginning stages but students are doing so well with helping each other troubleshoot and show off things they have discovered.

Fifth grade students have been discovering new things in science about matter. Goggles on and ready to see what reactions occur! They have been testing what happens when you mix two different materials with water. They are notetaking and looking for physical and chemical changes and what evidence supports their observations. A lot of new discoveries of what chemical changes can do to a solution as we continue to work on this unit over the next few weeks.

A few 7th Grade Social Studies classes were invited to explore and learn about the Chenango County Court System with the Honorable Chenango County Supreme Court Judge Joseph McBride and other members of the court such as the DIstrict Attorney and Head Public Defender. Students learned about some of the history of the Court House, Civil vs Criminal Court, and the roles of different members of the Court. A big thank you to Judge McBride, Mr. Ferrase, Mr. Dean, Mr. Curnalia, Ms. Sabasowitz, and Ms. Rodgers on taking time for our students.

Mrs. Cannon and Mrs. Carey's class has been learning about how to research and our students have been working hard researching their chosen weather event over the past two months. On Friday, Febraury 14th, each group presented their information in a slideshow.
