Early Friday morning, our Gibson cafeteria staff were following protocol, washing bananas to serve our students. All of a sudden, that mundane task turned into anything but. NCSD cafe employees discovered a scorpion in the bananas. It was quickly contained. Our cafeteria and custodial staff followed all protocols and no staff or students were harmed in the discovery. Instead, our High School Zoology students were able to capitalize on the discovery and feed it crickets and study it under a glow light. We believe the scorpion traveled to Norwich all the way from Guatemala, in the banana box.
We are grateful for our employees who followed all safety protocols.

Norwich CSD/YMCA Ski & Board Club:
The season officially began for the Ski and Board club on Saturday! We are returning to Greek Peak Mountain Resort this year, and despite some very unfriendly ski and board weather last week (that melted most of our snow!), the Greek Peak team managed to keep enough slopes open and in good condition for us to hurtle down and have a great time! It's great to see a number of new skiers and boarders joining the club this year and realizing just how awesome this sport is! With colder weather and new snow expected next week, Greek Peak will be put to the test on Saturday when Norwich hit the slopes again!
