Third grade science students have been busy learning about our bodies. One focus was our articulated skeleton and what would it be like to not have opposable thumbs. Students challenged themselves to do everyday activities without thumbs.

Fourth grade science students had a STEM challenge to build a boat entirely out of cardboard. Students then had to float the boat and see how many gram weights their boat could support before sinking. There were a few criteria and constraints in their way so they had to be creative and work as a team.

Fifth grade science students are finishing up their Earth and Space unit with a study of the water cycle and its processes. They played a game of traveling around the cycle as a water droplet. We discovered a lot about where most of our water is located on our planet. Do you know where most of Earth's water is located? I bet a fifth grader can tell you!

Michael Blenis, Hailee Blackman, Kathleen Bordonaro, and Caden Wallen were nominated and met all of the academic and service requirements for induction. During the ceremony, each inductee was recognized for their accomplishments. Michael Blenis is in the welding program, and among his other accomplishments, he has played for the Tornado on the gridiron and boasts the ability to squat 605 pounds and deadlift 545 pounds! Blenis plans to attend college to major in business or criminal justice. Hailey is in the Visual Communications program and has maintained a high honor roll program while growing her business, Hailey's Custom Designs, a business Hailey hopes to expand upon graduation. Kathleen is in the CNA program and is described as taking great pride in all she does, outgoing, and energetic. Kathleen plans to attend SUNY Broome for Health Sciences while pursuing her nursing career. Caden is enrolled in Culinary Arts. One of his proudest NCSD moments was representing the Tornado in the National Archery finals. Caden will enter the workforce in the area of culinary arts.
