NHS Senior Walkthrough 2019 NHS seniors are walking tall!

Members of the Class of 2019 got together for Norwich High School’s first Senior Walkthrough on Friday, June 14! Wearing caps and gowns donated by former NHS graduates, our seniors visited Stanford Gibson and Perry Browne to celebrate their accomplishments with our littles. Seniors then returned for a walkthrough at NHS.

The Norwich City School District announced Tuesday night that its 2019-2020 Proposed Budget, the proposed Guernsey Memorial Library Budget and its Bus Proposition all passed after voting at St. Bartholomew’s Parish Center, the Plymouth Firehouse and the Preston Firehouse. Additionally, Kiernan Hamilton and John Williams were elected to serve three-year terms on the NCSD Board of Education.

Our 100th Day of School Celebration featured a local celebrity as we welcomed 100-year-old Norwich resident Diana Gibson to the Stanford Gibson gymnasium Friday morning. 
Gibson Artists Design Holiday Cards to NCSD
Stanford Gibson students put their artistic skills to work this season to create greeting cards for the holidays.  The work of five young artists was recognized by Gibson art teacher, Margaret Fetzko.  At least one design will be featured on the annual holiday cards sent to all district staff for the holidays.

More than 350 students in pre-kindergarten through second grade attend Stanford J. Gibson Primary School. There are approximately 40 teachers and 16 support staff who work with your students on a daily basis. Students are taught at their academic and developmental levels. Each child is considered to be unique with different talents, goals and abilities. Our faculty takes pride in the profound impact their work has on the lives of our students.

We provide excellent services to all of our students. In addition to academics, students participate in physical education, music and art classes. Instruction includes technology and library services. For students with varying needs, we provide additional reading, speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy and counseling services. Special education settings are available to those students requiring an individual education plan.

Our school has a safe and friendly atmosphere. We encourage parent and community involvement. If you would like to volunteer or attend school events, call us at 607-334-1600 or visit our Welcome Desk at the school. Your support is appreciated!

* Look for “word problems” in real life
* Have your child count change at the grocery store
* Measure household items
* Cook with your child
* Look for ways to practice academic, or school, vocabulary at home (use words such as trace, analyze, infer, summarize, contrast and predict) 
* Make flashcards and practice math facts
