The American Red Cross is offering two new programs this summer for area students, including those from the Norwich City School District.
The Red Cross Summer Youth Corps Program gives students ages 13 and older an opportunity to become Red Cross Blood Drive Donor Ambassadors. These ambassadors are responsible for greeting and registering blood donors, answering questions, creating a favorable impression of the Red Cross and the blood donation process, and encouraging continued support. Youth volunteers can gain valuable work experience, give back to their community by helping to save lives, and complete community service hours.
The Red Cross Summer Leaders Save Lives Program is for high school and college students. These students can coordinate a local blood drive between June 1 and August 31 and help collecting life-saving blood products. Youth volunteers can gain leadership experience, complete community service hours, earn an Amazon.com gift card and be entered to win a college scholarship.
