NHS Bowler Finishes 2nd at Sectionals Congratulations to senior bowler, Cameron Birtch, who scored a three-game series score of 645. Cameron finished in 2nd place in Section IV Class B.

The bowling team also celebrated its’ senior bowlers recently at Lake Street Lanes in New Berlin – Kai Scheer, Parker Smith, Cameron Birtch and Sophia D’Abbraccio.


Section IV Wrestling Championships Three NHS Wrestlers Advance to States

The NHS Wrestling Team competed on February 15 for the Section IV Division II Championships. Seven members of the team competed in the event, and all seven moved on to semi-finals! The team earned a third place finish overall, and 7 members took a 4th place win or better. Joey Marvin and Dakota Powers finished in 4th place, and Max Morris and Andrew Brown finished in 3rd place.  NHS brought home 3 Section IV wins! Dante Geislinger (32-2), Mikey Squires (35-2) and Tyler Rice (31-5) earned those first place titles and will advance to compete at the NYSPHSAA Division II Championships on February 28-29 at Times Union Center in Albany.


NHS Student Shadowing Senator Akshar at Capitol NHS Junior Shadows Senator in Albany
NHS Junior, Houston Edwards, had the great opportunity to shadow Senator Fred Akshar at the Capitol in Albany.  As a student shadow, Houston was able to join the Senator during a legislative meeting, Legislative Session and a media taping.  He also toured the Capitol and had the unique experience to live a typical day in the life of a state senator.

SAME 2020 EXPO flyer SAME 2020 EXPO Support Art & Music Education (SAME)

Join us on Saturday, February 8, for the 8th Annual SAME 2020 event! There will be a Silent Auction consisting of artwork, gift baskets and services donated by generous supporters. The event will feature artwork and musical performances from students in grades K-12.

All proceeds will benefit the Norwich City School District's art and music programs, their scholarships, and extracurricular programs. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be available.


NHS Volunteers ring the bell for Salvation Army NHS Volunteers Help Make Red Kettle Campaign a Success! Once again, students from NHS got involved in the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign and rang the bell during the 2019 holiday season. Over 30 students volunteered their time to collect donations at our local TOPS. All proceeds raised are returned to the Norwich community for families in need. Salvation Army Educational Coordinator, Lorri Race, gives thanks to the NHS students and Mrs. Kisten Giglio, High School Principal. A special thanks is also extended to Mrs. Tracy Maynard, NHS Guidance Counselor, for recruiting volunteers and coordinating the schedule.

Squires wins title at Windsor Tournament Geislinger & Squires Lead Wrestling Team at Windsor Tournament

The Purple Tornado's varsity wresting team traveled over the break to compete in the Windsor Christmas Tournament. Norwich seniors, Dante Geislinger and Mikey Squires, returned to the mats for the annual tournament as top seeds in their respective classes. Geislinger captured the title in the 113-pound class, and Squires placed first in the 170-pound class.
