Cheerleading FAQ's

Who can participate on the Norwich Varsity Cheerleading teams?
   A. Girls or boys in grades 9 - 12, enrolled at Norwich High School

What do I need to do to sign up for Cheerleading?
   A. Contact Coach Marie DeSarro for information. All cheerleaders will be required to have an updated physical and an interview done by the HS nurse, prior to the start of the season.

When are practices and games?

   A. Football Season:  Practices are every night - times may vary.  Games are Friday night or Saturday afternoon. The season runs from mid-August to early November, pending playoffs.  We cheer at both home and away football games.
Basketball Season:  Practices are every night - times may vary. Games are one weeknight and Friday nights. Games during basketball are subject to change because of poor weather. The season runs from early-November to mid-March, pending playoffs. We cheer at both boy's and girl's home basketball games, and only travel to away games during the playoffs.
Are there tryouts and if so, when?
   A. Pending the number of cheerleaders that sign up each season, tryouts may or may not be necessary. If tryouts occur, they are typically during the first week of practice. The type of tryout also varies, pending the number of cheerleaders that sign up.
