ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF INSTRUCTION & STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Norwich City School District is located at the center of Chenango County with a student population of 1,800 and a total staff of 400. We are a student-centered, technology rich District with excellent facilities. We enjoy strong community support and parent engagement shown through our exceptional academic, extra-curricular activities and athletics program. We support the concept that the school is at the heart of our community and strive for our students to embrace and reach their academic and personal goals.

The Assistant Superintendent will develop, organize and coordinate the PK-12 program; develop District-wide policies and practices concerning curriculum; develop individual school improvement plans and related initiatives; oversee the District’s program of assessment, testing and interpretation of student performance outcomes; and remain current with “best practices” concerning staff training and curriculum areas with local and state relevance.

Applicants should have a child-centered philosophy, with a proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator; comprehensive knowledge of NYS learning standards and assessments with ability to use data to inform decision making and target instruction in order to strengthen student achievement; commitment to success of students with diverse needs and backgrounds; commitment to active parent involvement and promoting respect for all members of the school community, and supervisory and secondary school level experience.

FOOD SERVICE WORKER

SCHOOL BUS AIDE
EFFECTIVE:      Immediately

REQUIREMENTS: Primary duty is to establish behavior of children on the School Bus. Assists the School Bus Driver with the transportation of students. Requires ability to establish good relationships with children and others.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER
EFFECTIVE:     Immediately
 
SALARY:          Commensurate with training & experience
 
REQUIREMENTS:  Good knowledge of driving safety practices, traffic laws and regulations ability to operate a bus under difficult driving and road conditions ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions ability to get along well with children and command their respect mechanical aptitude mental alertness dependability good physical condition.
 
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Eligibility for the appropriate level New York State Driver License at the time of application, possession of license at time of appointment. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.
 
NOTE:   In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education
